Biography

Attorney Chelsea Nicholson is a trial lawyer practicing in Nashville and the surrounding Middle Tennessee counties. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with her Bachelor of Science degree in political science in 2005. She obtained her law degree in 2009 from the Nashville School of Law. Chelsea interned at the Public Defenders Office in Nashville throughout law school and started her practice with Jack Butler and Associates. She opened her own office in 2010 focusing on criminal defense and personal injury cases.

Attorney Chelsea Nicholson has tried over 15 jury trials in her practice of over 14 years in the Nashville and Middle Tennessee legal community. Between law clerking and practicing, Chelsea has been working in the Nashville legal community for 20 years. She has tried and handled murder cases, rape trials, DCS hearings, over a 1000 pounds of marijuana trial, where her client was acquitted, DUI, kidnapping and robbery trials. She has shown she is a trial attorney, who is willing to fight hard for her clients and fight for justice. She has worked with experts across the country challenging mis-identification, DNA science, coercive and wrongful confessions within interrogations, and challenging rape kit findings and procedures.

Chelsea Nicholson Law also practices personal injury. The firm has settled many cases and obtained good outcomes and results for clients who have sustained serious injuries within automobile accidents.  Chelsea Nicholson and her staff also represent Dismas House, a nonprofit holistic treatment provider in Nashville. She helps all of the residents get their driver’s license. She files Motions and argues for their costs to be lowered or waived across the state and has for the past 5 years. For this, she received the Father Jack Hickey Changemaker Award in 2024. Chelsea maintains that when clients are released from incarceration, not having their driver’s license can be a big hurdle and works with the residents at Dismas House, who are in treatment, to address these issues and get back on their feet.
